When Crowded House release their greatest hits album (admitedly some years ago now), it was advertised as “You know more Crowded House than you think you do”. The same was true for me of Burgundy wines when I first visited the region in 2022. I can’t recall if I’ve had many Gevrey-Chambertin wines in the past, but I have had one or two for sure.
This wine was very pleasing, and top of the price list at Côte where we were dining. Opening a 2019 wine of this type in 2023 is perhaps a bit early though.
Medium-bodied, but suitably complex, it made a great accompaniament to the ribeye steak that I ordered. Or perhaps it might have done, except that the steak wasn’t that great.
